Tests and Guidelines

Since 2005 NQ Industries Inc. is engaged within several trials (medical, military or food sectors) in various countries worldwide. Reports should be published soon.

August 2006 – French Clinical Trials NQ 500 and NQ Clarifier

NQ Industries’ French representative, Air Hygia, has published final test results made in July 2006 in a French hospital patient room located at the Fleming Clinic, Tours-France. These tests were performed and validated by Doctor Patrice Laudat, Microbiologist.

Compared to the trials made by Professor Syed A. Sattar Ph.D. (Director of the Centre for Research on Environmental Microbiology (CREM), University of Ottawa-Canada) in 2004, these trials have been made in “real conditions of hospital bedroom use”. It means that the room selected was a standard “unsealed” hospital patient bedroom. In this environment potential room leakage can happen and the external elements that could interfere with the results are difficult to monitor compared to a sealed test chamber. This was exactly the aim of the test to show how the systems would perform under uncontrolled environment which is often the case.

This test is fully complementary to the one performed by Professor Syed A. Sattar in 2004.

Key information for the understanding of this report:
  • Both the NQ 500 and Clarifier have demonstrated high efficacy to remove total aerobe spore TCS within a very short period of time within a “non-sealed” hospital bedroom.
  • No conclusion could be made on the ability of the NQ 500 to destroy MCA fungi. When the tests were run for the NQ 500 no MCA fungi was found. However when the same test was run the following day with the NQ Clarifier there were significant level of fungi that the NQ Clarifier had no problem to eliminate. Knowing that the NQ 500 has a higher UV dosage the unit would have performed very well too.
  • The NQ Clarifier shows a 40 to 50% efficacy after 1h02 on the particle count reduction test while the NQ 500 indicates a 95% efficacy after 1h22. This proves that the NQ 500 is more efficient than the NQ Clarifier in a very short period of time. It confirms the philosophy of how the NQ 500 was designed for. The results of the Clarifier are however very good because this result has been obtained after only 1h00 of test. Tests made in the past on the Clarifier has proven that the NQ Clarifier could reach an efficacy of 87% after 24h00 of use, within a non sealed environment, and 99,99% in 45 minutes, within a sealed environment. The Clarifier results would look far better if it were run for further hours.
  • The biological airborne contamination and particle reduction as well as the ISO Class obtained for each machine are very impressive. This confirms the ability of NQ portable systems to perform very well in “real hospitals and clinics conditions of use”.

December 2005 – Publication of CDC Guidelines for Preventing the Transmission of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in Health-Care Settings

In December 2005, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, www.cdc.gov) published their latest version of the guidelines for “Preventing the Transmission of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in Health-Care Settings”.

These guidelines recommend the use of combined air treatment technologies (HEPA Filtration and UVGI, technologies used by NQ Industries) as well as negative pressure isolation wards in order to prevent the transmission of Mycobacterium tuberculosis within Health-Care Settings

July 2004 – NQ Clarifier Standard Particle Reduction Test

NQ Industries submitted on July 2004 its NQ Clarifier Standard to a particle reduction test on particles of 0.3 micron (a 0.3 micron test is the most stringent of all particles tests).

2 tests were run:

Test 1 – Non airtight test room within poor environment
The NQ Clarifier Standard achieved a 80% particles removal within 1.5 hour and 87% after 24 hours.

Test 2 – Similar test as test 1 was made but within an airtight test room
          The
NQ Clarifier Standard achieved a 99.99% particles removal within 45 minutes.
