What
should I look out for?
A
word of caution, however, is in order, regardless of whether a central
or self-contained solution is applied. There has been much excitement
in the air cleaner marketplace recently about the use of ozone as
a "natural" air cleaning technology.
It is true that ozone is an effective oxidizer that, in sufficient
concentration, can remove many odors and biohazards. It is important
to remember, though, that in those same concentrations, ozone has
proven to be hazardous to human health.
The EPA, as well as many other unbiased health and environmental agencies,
has stated that ozone generators should never be used for cleaning the
air in an indoor, occupied space.
