What is IAQ or Indoor Air Quality?
Indoor
air quality (IAQ) is one of those invisible, out-of-sight, out-of-mind
responsibilities that, while always appreciated, seldom gets top billing.
That all changed last year, when the anthrax attack on our nation's
government and media institutions catapulted IAQ to the forefront of
the industry's priority list of concerns.
But the problems go beyond seemingly random acts by terrorists. A
study published in the March issue of the Journal of the American
Medical Association provided the strongest evidence yet of the health
dangers of the air pollution levels in many big and even some smaller
cities, where most office space can be found.
Indoor Air Quality problems can reduce worker productivity, increase
absenteeism, and in extreme cases cause serious illness. They can
create an environment that potential clients want to avoid.
